LESSONS FROM DONOVAN began simply.
We rescued a 10-year-old Irish Water Spaniel, and as we figured out life together, I'd write posts on Facebook about the things that happened during our daily walks by the beach. As life wandered on, I wrote about the things my beloved dog taught me, and the people that we met along the way. Little by little, the tales began taking on on a life of their own, and they needed a home for themselves.
So, here you have it.
Donovan died in November of 2016. And I miss him every day. But his spirit is alive and well, and with me to this day.
My walking partner now, Cosette, is a rescued IWS too. Still a puppy, she looks at the world with very different eyes. Already she has stolen my heart.
I know the chronology of this blog is a little unusual. It starts with a new story about the night we lost Donovan, a piece I wrote in hopes of honoring the dog who started it all. But from there, my goal is to offer you a mix of both old and new. And to share with you some pictures of the dogs I love and this beautiful place we call home.
These are our stories.
